How sad...

I just heard on the news today that the Dance Theatre of Harlem school in NY is closing because they have no money. Arthur Mitchell, who runs the school, has given up his pension, his welfare, subletted space, etc. to try to keep the school open, but they cannot afford to pay the bills and upkeep necessary to maintain the building.

It's so awful that there isn't something anyone can do, barring a HUGE donation (which excludes all of us). I hate hearing about long-established dance schools and companies being forced to close because of lack of funding. Arts advocacy isn't even enough anymore... What a shame.
